The Pirates of Penzance is a comic opera in two acts, with music by Arthur Sullivan and libretto by W. S. Gilbert. The opera s official premiere was at the Fifth Avenue Theatre in New York City on 31 December 1879, where the show was well received by both audiences and critics. Pirates was the fifth Gilbert and Sullivan collaboration and introduced the much-parodied Major-General s Song.In celebration of this day, we bring you George Rose s performance of I Am the Very Model of a Modern Major-General from the 1981 rev adidas samba ival. Ferrera joins the previously announced Julia Stiles for the show, which is set to open in the s owala pring at Ambassador Theatre Group.The show covers the same touchy subjects as did Ugly Betty, and Ferrera said of these topics in 2006, it s so reassuring to have a heroine who triumphs with more than just what she has on the outside. To me, the tragedy about this whole image-obsessed society is that young girls get so caught up in just achieving that, they forget they have so much more to offer the world. The production will be joint directed by Howard Panter and聽with Rosemary Squire. Panter is also producing reasons to be pretty along with Tali Pelman.
